My work as a maternity nurse over the past fifteen years at both St. Paul's and BC Women's Hospital in Vancouver, has given me the knowledge and experience to assist young families transition into parenthood. Expectant parents will be given the tools and confidence needed to welcome their newborn(s) into the world.

My career in nursing was inspired by my grandmother (“Baba”) who worked as a midwife. To carry on her legacy, I became a maternity nurse, childbirth educator and international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC). With my experience and knowledge, I aim to make every Baby Prep™ client feel empowered and confident in her ability to give birth in whatever setting she chooses. Along with providing prenatal education, I also want to help new parents transition comfortably into the postpartum phase.

As the mother of two young children, I can also relate to the emotional and physical changes that occur before and after a pregnancy. Being a mother has its challenges but it is my greatest joy in life.

Baby Prep™ has assisted many families in the exciting adventure of preparing for birth and we look forward to helping your family soon. We cannot wait to welcome you into the Baby Prep™ family!

Baby Prep has been part of my family since 2011 when I was pregnant with my son. My husband and I absolutely loved Kathleen for her warmth, her honesty, and her homemade Rice Krispy squares that she brought to class. You could say that my Baby Prep series never really ended, as I’ve been friends with (and learning from) Kathleen ever since.

Almost two years ago now, Kathleen asked me for some administrative assistance at Baby Prep. As a former flight attendant, I wasn’t sure if any of my on-the-job skills would transfer over to office work, and to this day Kathleen still hasn’t asked me to evacuate 50 people out of a room nor fight any fires in a washroom wastebasket. My love of people and my relentless quest to provide top-notch customer service, however, has proven to be extremely useful. I find immense joy in interacting with our clients, particularly when I get to respond to the birth announcement emails that usually include adorable newborn photos.

When I’m not working, you can find me chasing my two kids around the North Shore, travelling with my husband, or relaxing on my patio with a glass of wine.

Maternity nursing has been my passion since the beginning of my nursing career. Through my experience as a Labour and Delivery nurse, a prenatal teacher at BC Women’s Hospital and a Public Health nurse on the North Shore, I have had the privilege of working with families during all the phases of their childbearing experiences. Being with families through all stages of pregnancy from Labour and Delivery to postnatal up to the first days at home is a great honor. Teaching maternity nursing to students in various hospitals in the Lower Mainland for the last 15 years allows me the knowledge and expertise to provide current and reliable information regarding the childbearing process to families. As a Masters-prepared nurse, I have the background to deliver evidence-based information in an effective manner to you.

Families have access to a wide-range of resources today. My intent for teaching prenatal classes is to provide opportunities for individuals and families to access up to date information and better understand the childbearing process. In so doing, together we deconstruct what may seem unknown and somewhat fearsome into phases that we can manage with effective strategies and tools. Hence we gain confidence, the capacity to make informed decisions and actively participate in our individual birthing process.

Being a mother of a nine year old, I also bring with me my personal experience of giving birth and raising a child. I live with my husband and son in Cloverdale, BC. One of my favorite things to do is spend uninterrupted time with my family walking on a trail or on the beach!

Welcoming babies into the world is a profound calling and it has been my privilege to witness the beauty of new life as a maternity nurse.

I have been employed as a specialized perinatal nurse at St. Paul’s Maternity Centre in Vancouver since 2013. Previously I was a travel nurse in rural Canadian communities where I practiced independently with minimal resources. I gained experience as an educator by teaching UBC nursing students during their maternity rotation.

My career has also given me the opportunity to travel internationally to Haiti, where I trained midwives and provided education to women in rural areas with limited resources. I attend global health conferences as I believe that every mother and baby around the world have the right to survive and thrive.

My vision for prenatal education is to provide current and accurate information to families. I use practical examples to promote an understanding of the realities of this life changing event. I strive to be an open and honest educator who will work alongside parents and listen to their concerns.

I am based in Vancouver and spend most of my free time adventuring outdoors. I look forward to being a part of your family's journey into parenthood.

Registered Nurse, BScN, IBCLC, Baby Prep™ Lactation Consultant

While completing my Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing at The University of Ottawa, I quickly realized that I have a passion for women’s health and pediatrics. After moving to the west coast to continue my nursing career, I completed the BCIT Neonatal Intensive Care Course in order to work in the Neonatal Unit at St Paul’s Hospital. Watching the seasoned nurses assist and support mother’s during such a vulnerable and special time, inspired me to want to be part of this wonderful community. After giving birth to my first born in 2009, and having my own battles with breast feeding, my passion for lactation support was born.

My goal is to work in partnership with mothers and their babies to meet their feeding goals. Every family is unique and so are their feeding journeys. I hope to empower my clients by providing them evidence based information and support. I also hope to instill confidence in caring for their infants, specifically regarding their feeding choices.

My husband and I are blessed with three children and currently reside in East Vancouver.
